Another Year in the Life

I'm a twenty something associate pastor at a Baptist church, newly married who loves to share my narrative with others according to my friends. I find joy in writing even though I readily admit that I'm a horrible speller (pardon my errors). Come journey through my reflections of life, work and faith. This year is bound to be interesting, I know!

A Movie Worth Seeing

We have become quite the movie buffs in the past several months. I suppose this has a lot to do with our energy level on nights we have set aside to hang out together. Work, life and everything else in between can be stressful so that all that we feel like doing is a relaxing trip out of the house at the theater.

I love it though, when we pick a movie that is more than just fluff . . . a movie that makes us think about a group of people or a topic in a thought provoking way. It is a rarity to find a film such as this, but when we do, I feel as though we've hit a jackpot. (The money we spent on going out is actually worth it!)

Last Friday night, we hit such a jackpot in the film Traitor. I usually don't like films with violent streaks in them, but I don't mind violence that speaks to the reality of real life situations. Minus the graphic scenes at the beginning, I think what I loved about it was its high energy, international scenery and conversation provoking themes about the relationship between religious extremism and crime. Plus Don Cheadle in the lead role (I've been a fan of his since Hotel Rwanda) was awesome playing Samir Horn.

While it might not be out this week in the place you are, I would highly recommend it for your night in when it comes out as a rental. It defiantly made me think differently about the bombing of the Yemen embassy this week. . . .
