Another Year in the Life

I'm a twenty something associate pastor at a Baptist church, newly married who loves to share my narrative with others according to my friends. I find joy in writing even though I readily admit that I'm a horrible speller (pardon my errors). Come journey through my reflections of life, work and faith. This year is bound to be interesting, I know!

Ten Thoughts for Thursday II

1. As hard as I have tried, I really don't like organic food. Bring on the preservatives.

2. Check out this hilarious link I was sent by a pastoral colleague. Warning: don't click on the link if you are in are in a really holy mood.

3. How happy it is when your are a pastor when you actually do find Sunday School/ Extended Session Workers to commit to serving! Not having enough teachers for Sundays has been my worry the past month. But after promotion Sunday last week, it looks like we are doing pretty good. Hooray!

4. Preaching when your mic is messed up (hearing interference the whole time) is difficult. I kept trying to speak slower and slower last week to make up for it and stretched what I thought was a 14 minute communion sermon to a 17 minute sermon. (But as I got good reviews on the sermon, it makes me wonder if I really do talk too fast anyway?)

5. One of the things I miss about seminary the most is regular mealtimes. It is sad how happy I am to be in a setting where a balanced meal is served. I feel like I rarely get this anymore between all the meetings and commute times.

6. It is so nice to have clean car! (Thanks, Kevin for getting my car detailed last week for the first time in its life. The Chevy and I thank you very much).

7. As much as I love politics, the intensity of the presidential campaign is exhausting. I have to take lots of time outs now from the coverage. Otherwise, I find myself getting too worked up about it. A lot is at stake, you know?

8. Driving five hours in a tropical storm is never a good idea! (Yes, this was my fate last Saturday as I made a trip with my windshield wipers on the highest speed for the entire time of a 200+ mile journey).

9. How good it is to stay connected to old friends. It is nice to have people who have known you for years and love you still.

10. No matter how hard to try to correctly pronounce the word "specific" it always comes out "pacific." Oh, well.
